Psaumes 82

1Cantique d’Asaph. Dieu se tient dans l’assemblée du Tout-Puissant ; au milieu des dieux il rend son arrêt :

2« Jusques à quand jugerez-vous injustement, et prendrez-vous parti pour les méchants ? — Séla.

3« Rendez justice au faible et à l’orphelin, faites droit au malheureux et au pauvre,

4sauvez le misérable et l’indigent, délivrez-les de la main des méchants.

5« Ils n’ont ni savoir ni intelligence, ils marchent dans les ténèbres ; tous les fondements de la terre sont ébranlés.

6« J’ai dit : Vous êtes des dieux, vous êtes tous les fils du Très-Haut.

7Cependant, vous mourrez comme des hommes, vous tomberez comme le premier venu des princes. »

8Lève-toi, ô Dieu, juge la terre, car toutes les nations t’appartiennent.

1Psalmus Asaph. [Deus stetit in synagoga deorum; in medio autem deos dijudicat.

2Usquequo judicatis iniquitatem, et facies peccatorum sumitis?

3Judicate egeno et pupillo; humilem et pauperem justificate.

4Eripite pauperem, et egenum de manu peccatoris liberate.

5Nescierunt, neque intellexerunt; in tenebris ambulant: movebuntur omnia fundamenta terræ.

6Ego dixi: Dii estis, et filii Excelsi omnes.

7Vos autem sicut homines moriemini, et sicut unus de principibus cadetis.

8Surge, Deus, judica terram, quoniam tu hæreditabis in omnibus gentibus.]

1A psalm for Asaph. God hath stood in the congregation of gods: and being in the midst of them he judgeth gods.

2How long will you judge unjustly: and accept the persons of the wicked?

3Judge for the needy and fatherless: do justice to the humble and the poor.

4Rescue the poor; and deliver the needy out of the hand of the sinner.

5They have not known nor understood: they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth shall be moved.

6I have said: You are gods and all of you the sons of the most High.

7But you like men shall die: and shall fall like one of the princes.

8Arise, O God, judge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherit among all the nations.
