1Heureux ceux qui sont irréprochables dans leur voie, qui marchent selon la loi de Yahweh !

2Heureux ceux qui gardent ses enseignements, qui le cherchent de tout leur cœur,

3qui ne commettent pas l’iniquité et qui marchent dans ses voies !

4Tu as prescrit tes ordonnances, pour qu’on les observe avec soin.

5Puissent mes voies être dirigées, pour que j’observe tes lois !

6Alors je n’aurai point à rougir, à la vue de tous tes commandements.

7Je te louerai dans la droiture de mon cœur, en apprenant les préceptes de ta justice.

8Je veux garder tes lois : ne me délaisse pas complètement.

9Comment le jeune homme rendra-t-il pur son sentier ? En se gardant selon ta parole.

10Je te cherche de tout mon cœur : ne me laisse pas errer loin de tes commandements.

11Je garde ta parole cachée dans mon cœur, afin de ne pas pécher contre toi.

12Béni sois-tu, Yahweh ! Enseigne-moi tes lois.

13De mes lèvres j’énumère tous les préceptes de ta bouche.

14J’ai de la joie à suivre tes enseignements, comme si je possédais tous les trésors.

15Je veux méditer tes ordonnances, avoir les yeux sur tes sentiers.

16Je fais mes délices de tes lois, je n’oublierai pas ta parole.

17Use de bonté envers ton serviteur, afin que je vive, et j’observerai ta parole.

18Ouvre mes yeux, pour que je contemple les merveilles de ta loi.

19Je suis un étranger sur la terre : ne me cache pas tes commandements.

20Mon âme est brisée par le désir, qui toujours la porte vers tes préceptes.

21Tu menaces les orgueilleux, ces maudits, qui s’égarent loin de tes commandements.

22Eloigne de moi la honte et le mépris, car j’observe tes enseignements.

23Que les princes siègent et parlent contre moi : ton serviteur méditera tes lois.

24Oui, tes enseignements font mes délices, ce sont les hommes de mon conseil.

25Mon âme est attachée à la poussière : rends-moi la vie, selon ta parole !

26Je t’ai exposé mes voies, et tu m’as répondu : enseigne-moi tes lois.

27Fais-moi comprendre la voie de tes ordonnances, et je méditerai sur tes merveilles.

28Mon âme, attristée, se fond en larmes : relève-moi selon ta parole.

29Eloigne de moi la voie du mensonge, et accorde-moi la faveur de ta loi.

30J’ai choisi la voie de la fidélité, je place tes préceptes sous mes yeux.

31Je me suis attaché à tes enseignements : Yahweh, ne permets pas que je sois confondu.

32Je cours dans la voie de tes commandements, car tu élargis mon cœur.

33Enseigne-moi, Yahweh, la voie de tes préceptes, afin que je la garde jusqu’à la fin de ma vie.

34Donne-moi l’intelligence pour que je garde ta loi, et que je l’observe de tout mon cœur.

35Conduis-moi dans le sentier de tes commandements, car j’y trouve le bonheur.

36Incline mon cœur vers tes enseignements, et non vers le gain.

37Détourne mes yeux pour qu’ils ne voient point la vanité, fais-moi vivre dans ta voie.

38Accomplis envers ton serviteur ta promesse, que tu as faite à ceux qui te craignent.

39Écarte de moi l’opprobre que je redoute, car tes préceptes sont bons.

40Je désire ardemment pratiquer tes ordonnances : par ta justice, fais-moi vivre.

41Que vienne sur moi ta miséricorde, Yahweh, et ton salut, selon ta parole !

42Et je pourrai répondre à celui qui m’outrage, car je me confie en ta parole.

43N’ôte pas entièrement de ma bouche la parole de vérité, car j’espère en tes préceptes.

44Je veux garder ta loi constamment, toujours et à perpétuité.

45Je marcherai au large, car je recherche tes ordonnances.

46Je parlerai de tes enseignements devant les rois, et je n’aurai point de honte.

47Je ferai mes délices de tes commandements, car je les aime.

48J’élèverai mes mains vers tes commandements que j’aime, et je méditerai tes lois.

49Souviens-toi de la parole donnée à ton serviteur, sur laquelle tu fais reposer mon espérance.

50C’est ma consolation dans la misère, que ta parole me rende la vie.

51Des orgueilleux me prodiguent leurs railleries : je ne m’écarte point de ta loi.

52Je pense à tes préceptes des temps passés, Yahweh, et je me console.

53L’indignation me saisit à cause des méchants, qui abandonnent ta loi.

54Tes lois sont le sujet de mes cantiques, dans le lieu de mon pèlerinage.

55La nuit je me rappelle ton nom, Yahweh, et j’observe ta loi.

56Voici la part qui m’ est donnée : je garde tes ordonnances.

57Ma part, Yahweh, je le dis, c’est de garder tes paroles.

58Je t’implore de tout mon cœur ; aie pitié de moi selon ta parole.

59Je réfléchis à mes voies, et je ramène mes pas vers tes enseignements.

60Je me hâte, je ne diffère point d’observer tes commandements.

61Les pièges des méchants m’environnent, et je n’oublie point ta loi.

62Au milieu de la nuit, je me lève pour te louer, à cause des jugements de ta justice.

63Je suis l’ami de tous ceux qui te craignent, et de ceux qui gardent tes ordonnances.

64La terre est pleine de ta bonté, Yahweh : enseigne-moi tes lois.

65Tu as usé de bonté envers ton serviteur, Yahweh, selon ta parole.

66Enseigne-moi le sens droit et l’intelligence, car j’ai foi en tes commandements.

67Avant d’avoir été humilié, je m’égarais ; maintenant, j’observe ta parole.

68Tu es bon et bienfaisant : enseigne-moi tes lois.

69Des orgueilleux imaginent contre moi des mensonges ; moi, je garde de tout cœur tes ordonnances.

70Leur cœur est insensible comme la graisse ; moi, je fais mes délices de ta loi.

71Il m’est bon d’avoir été humilié, afin que j’apprenne tes préceptes.

72Mieux vaut pour moi la loi de ta bouche ; que des monceaux d’or et d’argent.

73Ce sont tes mains qui m’ont fait et qui m’ont façonné : donne-moi l’intelligence pour apprendre tes commandements.

74Ceux qui te craignent, en me voyant, se réjouiront, car j’ai confiance en ta parole.

75Je sais, Yahweh, que tes jugements sont justes ; c’est dans ta fidélité que tu m’as humilié.

76Que ta bonté soit ma consolation, selon ta parole donnée à ton serviteur !

77Que ta compassion vienne sur moi, et que je vive, car ta loi fait mes délices !

78Qu’ils soient confondus les orgueilleux qui me maltraitent injustement ! Moi, je médite tes ordonnances.

79Qu’ils se tournent vers moi ceux qui te craignent, et ceux qui connaissent tes enseignements !

80Que mon cœur soit tout entier à tes lois, afin que je ne sois pas confondu !

81Mon âme languit après ton salut, j’espère en ta parole.

82Mes yeux languissent après ta promesse, je dis : « Quand me consoleras-tu ? »

83Car je suis comme une outre exposée à la fumée, mais je n’oublie pas tes lois.

84Quel est le nombre des jours de ton serviteur ? Quand donc feras-tu justice de ceux qui me poursuivent ?

85Des orgueilleux creusent des fosses pour me perdre ; ils sont les adversaires de ta loi.

86Tous tes commandements sont fidélité ; ils me persécutent sans cause : secours-moi.

87Ils ont failli m’anéantir dans le pays ; et moi je n’abandonne pas tes ordonnances.

88Rends-moi la vie dans ta bonté, et j’observerai l’enseignement de ta bouche.

89À jamais, Yahweh, ta parole est établie dans les cieux.

90D’âge en âge ta fidélité demeure ; tu as fondé la terre, et elle subsiste.

91C’est d’après tes lois que tout subsiste jusqu’à ce jour, car tout obéit à tes ordres.

92Si ta loi ne faisait mes délices, déjà j’aurais péri dans ma misère.

93Je n’oublierai jamais tes ordonnances, car c’est par elles que tu m’as rendu la vie.

94Je suis à toi : sauve-moi, car je recherche tes préceptes.

95Les méchants m’attendent pour me faire périr : je suis attentif à tes enseignements.

96J’ai vu des bornes à tout ce qui est parfait ; ton commandement n’a point de limites.

97Combien j’aime ta loi ! Elle est tout le jour l’objet de ma méditation.

98Par tes commandements, tu me rends plus sage que mes ennemis, car je les ai toujours avec moi.

99Je suis plus sage que tous mes maîtres, car tes enseignements sont l’objet de ma méditation.

100J’ai plus d’intelligence que les vieillards, car j’observe tes ordonnances.

101Je retiens mon pied loin de tout sentier mauvais, afin de garder ta parole.

102Je ne m’écarte pas de tes préceptes, car c’est toi qui m’as instruit.

103Que ta parole est douce à mon palais, plus que le miel à ma bouche !

104Par tes ordonnances je deviens intelligent, aussi je hais tous les sentiers du mensonge.

105Ta parole est un flambeau devant mes pas, une lumière sur mon sentier.

106J’ai juré, et j’y serai fidèle, — d’observer les préceptes de ta justice.

107Je suis réduit à une extrême affliction : Yahweh, rends-moi la vie, selon ta parole.

108Agrée, Yahweh, l’offrande de mes lèvres, et enseigne-moi tes préceptes.

109Ma vie est continuellement dans mes mains, et je n’oublie point ta loi.

110Les méchants me tendent des pièges, et je ne m’égare pas loin de tes ordonnances.

111J’ai tes enseignements pour toujours en héritage, car ils sont la joie de mon cœur.

112J’ai incliné mon cœur à observer tes lois, toujours, jusqu’à la fin.

113Je hais les hommes au cœur double, et j’aime ta loi.

114Tu es mon refuge et mon bouclier ; j’ai confiance en ta parole.

115Retirez-vous de moi, méchants, et j’observerai les commandements de mon Dieu.

116Soutiens-moi selon ta promesse, afin que je vive, et ne permets pas que je sois confondu dans mon espérance.

117Sois mon appui, et je serai sauvé, et j’aurai toujours tes lois sous les yeux.

118Tu méprises tous ceux qui s’écartent de tes lois, car leur ruse n’est que mensonge.

119Tu rejettes comme des scories tous les méchants de la terre ; c’est pourquoi j’aime tes enseignements.

120Ma chair frissonne de frayeur devant toi, et je redoute tes jugements.

121J’observe le droit et la justice : ne m’abandonne pas à mes oppresseurs.

122Prends sous ta garantie le bien de ton serviteur ; et que les orgueilleux ne m’oppriment pas !

123Mes yeux languissent après ton salut, et après la promesse de ta justice.

124Agis envers ton serviteur selon ta bonté, et enseigne-moi tes lois.

125Je suis ton serviteur : donne-moi l’intelligence, pour que je connaisse tes enseignements.

126Il est temps pour Yahweh d’intervenir : ils violent ta loi.

127C’est pourquoi j’aime tes commandements, plus que l’or et que l’or fin.

128C’est pourquoi je trouve justes toutes tes ordonnances, je hais tout sentier de mensonge.

129Tes enseignements sont merveilleux, aussi mon âme les observe.

130La révélation de tes paroles illumine, elle donne l’intelligence aux simples.

131J’ouvre la bouche et j’aspire, car je suis avide de tes commandements.

132Tourne vers moi ta face et aie pitié de moi ; c’est justice envers ceux qui aiment ton nom.

133Affermis mes pas dans ta parole, et ne laisse aucune iniquité dominer sur moi.

134Délivre-moi de l’oppression des hommes, et je garderai tes ordonnances.

135Fais luire ta face sur ton serviteur, et enseigne-moi tes lois.

136Mes yeux répandent des torrents de larmes, parce qu’on n’observe pas ta loi.

137Tu es juste, Yahweh, et tes jugements sont équitables.

138Tu as donné tes enseignements, selon la justice et une parfaite fidélité.

139Mon zèle me consume, parce que mes adversaires oublient tes paroles.

140Ta parole est entièrement éprouvée, et ton serviteur l’aime.

141Je suis petit et méprisé ; mais je n’oublie point tes ordonnances.

142Ta justice est une justice éternelle, et ta loi est vérité.

143La détresse et l’angoisse m’ont atteint ; tes commandements font mes délices.

144Tes enseignements sont éternellement justes ; donne-moi l’intelligence, pour que je vive.

145Je t’invoque de tout mon cœur ; exauce-moi, Yahweh, afin que je garde tes lois.

146Je t’invoque, sauve-moi, afin que j’observe tes enseignements.

147Je devance l’aurore, et je crie vers toi ; j’espère en ta parole.

148Mes yeux devancent les veilles de la nuit, pour méditer ta parole.

149Écoute ma voix selon ta bonté ; Yahweh, rends-moi la vie selon ton jugement.

150Ils s’approchent, ceux qui poursuivent le crime, qui se sont éloignés de ta loi.

151Tu es proche, Yahweh, et tous tes commandements sont la vérité.

152Dès longtemps je sais, au sujet de tes enseignements, que tu les as établis pour toujours.

153Vois ma misère, et délivre-moi, car je n’oublie pas ta loi.

154Défends ma cause et sois mon vengeur, rends-moi la vie selon ta parole.

155Le salut est loin des méchants, car ils ne s’inquiètent pas de tes lois.

156Tes miséricordes sont nombreuses, Yahweh ; rends-moi la vie selon tes jugements.

157Nombreux sont mes persécuteurs et mes ennemis ; je ne m’écarte point de tes enseignements.

158À la vue des infidèles, j’ai ressenti de l’horreur, parce qu’ils n’observent pas ta parole.

159Considère que j’aime tes ordonnances ; Yahweh, rends-moi la vie selon ta bonté.

160Le résumé de ta parole est la vérité, et toutes les lois de ta justice sont éternelles.

161Des princes me persécutent sans cause : c’est de tes paroles que mon cœur a de la crainte.

162Je me réjouis de ta parole, comme si j’avais trouvé de riches dépouilles.

163Je hais le mensonge, je l’ai en horreur ; j’aime ta loi.

164Sept fois le jour je te loue, à cause des lois de ta justice.

165Il y a une grande paix pour ceux qui aiment ta loi, et rien ne leur est une cause de chute.

166J’espère en ton salut, Yahweh, et je pratique tes commandements.

167Mon âme observe tes enseignements, et elle en est éprise.

168Je garde tes ordonnances et tes enseignements, car toutes mes voies sont devant toi.

169Que mon cri arrive jusqu’à toi, Yahweh ! Selon ta parole, donne-moi l’intelligence.

171Que mes lèvres profèrent ta louange, car tu m’as enseigné tes lois !

1ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

2Blessed are they who search his testimonies: that seek him with their whole heart.

3For they that work iniquity, have not walked in his ways.

4Thou hast commanded thy commandments to be kept most diligently.

5O! that my ways may be directed to keep thy justifications.

6Then shall I not be confounded, when I shall look into all thy commandments.

7I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned the judgments of thy justice.

8I will keep thy justifications: O! do not thou utterly forsake me.

9BETH. By what doth a young man correct his way? by observing thy words.

10With my whole heart have I sought after thee: let me not stray from thy commandments.

11Thy words have I hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against thee.

12Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy justifications.

13With my lips I have pronounced all the judgments of thy mouth.

14I have been delighted in the way of thy testimonies, as in all riches.

15I will meditate on thy commandments: and I will consider thy ways.

17GIMEL. Give bountifully to thy servant, enliven me: and I shall keep thy words.

18Open thou my eyes: and I will consider the wondrous things of thy law.

19I am a sojourner on the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

20My soul hath coveted to long for thy justifications, at all times.

21Thou hast rebuked the proud: they are cursed who decline from thy commandments.

22Remove from reproach and contempt: because I have sought after thy testimonies.

23For princes sat, and spoke against me: but thy servant was employed in thy justifications.

24For thy testimonies are my meditation: and thy justifications my counsel.

25DALETH. My soul hath cleaved to the pavement: quicken thou me according to thy word.

26I have declared my ways, and thou hast heard me: teach me thy justifications.

27Make me to understand the way of thy justifications: and I shall be exercised in thy wondrous works.

28My soul hath slumbered through heaviness: strengthen thou me in thy words.

29Remove from me the way of iniquity: and out of thy law have mercy on me.

33HE. Set before me for a law the way of thy justifications, O Lord: and I will always seek after it.

34Give me understanding, and I will search thy law; and I will keep it with my whole heart.

35Lead me into the path of thy commandments; for this same I have desired.

36Incline my heart into thy testimonies and not to covetousness.

37Turn away my eyes that they may not behold vanity: quicken me in thy way.

38Establish thy word to thy servant, in thy fear.

39Turn away my reproach, which I have apprehended: for thy judgments are delightful.

40Behold I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy justice.

41VAU. Let thy mercy also come upon me, O Lord: thy salvation according to thy word.

42So shall I answer them that reproach me in any thing; that I have trusted in thy words.

43And take not thou the word of truth utterly out of my mouth: for in thy words have I hoped exceedingly.

44So shall I always keep thy law, for ever and ever.

45And I walked at large: because I have sought after thy commandments.

46And I spoke of thy testimonies before kings: and I was not ashamed.

47I meditated also on thy commandments, which I loved.

48And I lifted up my hands to thy commandments, which I loved: and I was exercised in thy justifications.

49ZAIN. Be thou mindful of thy word to thy servant, in which thou hast given me hope.

50This hath comforted me in my humiliation: because thy word hath enlivened me.

51The proud did iniquitously altogether: but I declined not from thy law.

52I remembered, O Lord, thy judgments of old: and I was comforted.

53A fainting hath taken hold of me, because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

54Thy justifications were the subject of my song, in the place of my pilgrimage.

55In the night I have remembered thy name, O Lord: and have kept thy law.

56This happened to me: because I sought after thy justifications.

57HETH. O Lord, my portion, I have said, I would keep the law.

58I entreated thy face with all my heart: have mercy on me according to thy word.

60I am ready, and am not troubled: that I may keep thy commandments.

61The cords of the wicked have encompassed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.

62I rose at midnight to give praise to thee; for the judgments of thy justification.

63I am a partaker with all them that fear thee, and that keep thy commandments.

64The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy justifications.

65TETH. Thou hast done well with thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word.

66Teach me goodness and discipline and knowledge; for I have believed thy commandments.

67Before I was humbled I offended; therefore have I kept thy word.

68Thou art good; and in thy goodness teach me thy justifications.

69The iniquity of the proud hath been multiplied over me: but I will seek thy commandments with my whole heart.

70Their heart is curdled like milk: but I have meditated on thy law.

71It is good for me that thou hast humbled me, that I may learn thy justifications.

72The law of thy mouth is good to me, above thousands of gold and silver.

73JOD. Thy hands have made me and formed me: give me understanding, and I will learn thy commandments.

74They that fear thee shall see me, and shall be glad: because I have greatly hoped in thy words.

75I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are equity: and in thy truth thou hast humbled me.

76O! let thy mercy be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.

77Let thy tender mercies come unto me, and I shall live: for thy law is my meditation.

78Let the proud be ashamed, because they have done unjustly towards me: but I will be employed in thy commandments.

79Let them that fear thee turn to me and they that know thy testimonies.

80Let my heart be undefiled in thy justifications, that I may not be confounded.

81CAPH. My soul hath fainted after thy salvation: and in thy word I have very much hoped.

82My eyes have failed for thy word, saying: When wilt thou comfort me?

83For I am become like a bottle in the frost: I have not forgotten thy justifications.

84How many are the days of thy servant: when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

85The wicked have told me fables: but not as thy law.

86All thy statutes are truth: they have persecuted me unjustly, do thou help me.

87They had almost made an end of me upon earth: but I have not forsaken thy commandments.

88Quicken thou me according to thy mercy: and I shall keep the testimonies of thy mouth.

89LAMED. For ever, O Lord, thy word standeth firm in heaven.

90Thy truth unto all generations: thou hast founded the earth, and it continueth.

91By thy ordinance the day goeth on: for all things serve thee.

92Unless thy law had been my meditation, I had then perhaps perished in my abjection.

93Thy justifications I will never forget: for by them thou hast given me life.

95The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I have understood thy testimonies.

97MEM. O how have I loved thy law, O Lord! it is my meditation all the day.

100I have had understanding above ancients: because I have sought thy commandments.

101I have restrained my feet from every evil way: that I may keep thy words.

102I have not declined from thy judgments, because thou hast set me a law.

103How sweet are thy words to my palate! more than honey to my mouth.

104By thy commandments I have had understanding: therefore have I hated every way of iniquity.

105NUN. Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my paths.

106I have sworn and am determined to keep the judgments of thy justice.

107I have been humbled, O Lord, exceedingly: quicken thou me according to thy word.

108The free offerings of my mouth make acceptable, O Lord: and teach me thy judgments.

109My soul is continually in my hands: and I have not forgotten thy law.

110Sinners have laid a snare for me: but I have not erred from thy precepts.

111I have purchased thy testimonies for an inheritance for ever: because they are a joy to my heart.

112I have inclined my heart to do thy justifications for ever, for the reward.

113SAMECH. I have hated the unjust: and have loved thy law.

114Thou art my helper and my protector: and in thy word I have greatly hoped.

115Depart from me, ye malignant: and I will search the commandments of my God.

156Many, O Lord, are thy mercies: quicken me according to thy judgment.

157Many are they that persecute me, and afflict me; but I have not declined from thy testimonies.

158I beheld the transgressors, and I pined away; because they kept not thy word.

159Behold I have loved thy commandments, O Lord; quicken me thou in thy mercy.

160The beginning of thy words is truth: all the judgments of thy justice are for ever.

161SIN. Princes have persecuted me without cause: and my heart hath been in awe of thy words.

162I will rejoice at thy words, as one that hath found great spoil.

163I have hated and abhorred iniquity; but I have loved thy law.

164Seven times a day I have given praise to thee, for the judgments of thy justice.

165Much peace have they that love thy law, and to them there is no stumbling block.

169TAU. Let my supplication, O Lord, come near in thy sight: give me understanding according to thy word.

171My lips shall utter a hymn, when thou shalt teach me thy justifications.

172My tongue shall pronounce thy word: because all thy commandments are justice.

173Let thy hand be with me to save me; for I have chosen thy precepts.

176I have gone astray like a sheep that is lost: seek thy servant, because I have not forgotten thy commandments.
