1O Senhor falou a Moisés e Aarão, dizendo:

2Faze a contagem dos filhos de Caath, dentre os Levitas, segundo as suas casas e as suas famílias,

3desde a idade de trinta anos para cima até aos cinquenta, de todos os que entram para assistirem e ministrarem no tabernáculo da reunião.

4Este é o serviço dos filhos de Caath, no tabernáculo da reunião: referir-se-á a coisas santíssimas.

5Filtrarão Aarão e seus filhos, quando se tiverem de mover os acampamentos, descerão o véu, que está pendente diante da porta, envolverão nele a arca do testemunho,

6cobri-la-ão ainda com uma coberta de peles roxas, e estenderão por cima um pano todo de púrpura violácea, e meterão os varais.

7Envolverão, também, num pano de púrpura violácea a mesa da proposição, e porão com ela os turíbulos e os grãozinhos, os copos e as taças para as libações; os pães estarão sempre sobre ela.

8Estender-lhe-ão por cima um pano carmesim, o qual cobrirão ainda com uma coberta de peles roxas, e meterão os varais.

9Tomarão também um pano de púrpura violácea, com o qual cobrirão o candeeiro com as lâmpadas e as suas tenazes e espevitadores e todos os vasos de azeite, que são necessários para preparar as lâmpadas:

10sobre todas estas coisas lançarão uma coberta de peles roxas, e meterão os varais.

11Envolverão também o altar de ouro num pano de púrpura violáceas e estenderão por cima uma coberta de peles roxas e meterão os varais.

12Envolverão, num pano de púrpura violácea, todos os utensílios, com que se faz serviço no santuário, estenderão por cima uma coberta de peles roxas e meterão os varais.

13Limparão também as cinzas do altar, estenderão sobre ele um pano de púrpura;

14porão em cima todos os utensílios que se usam no serviço, isto é, os braseiros, as tenazes e os tridentes, os garfos e as pás. Cobrirão todos os utensílios do altar com uma coberta de peles roxas, e meterão os varais.

15Depois que Aarão e seus filhos tiverem envolvido o santuário com todos os seus utensílios ao levantar dos acampamentos, então entrarão os filhos de Caath para levarem o que estiver embrulhado; não tocarão nos utensílios do santuário, para que não morram. Estes são os cargos dos filhos de Caath relativamente ao tabernáculo da reunião,

16O seu chefe será Eleázaro, filho do sacerdote Aarão, que terá a seu cuidado o azeite para preparar as lâmpadas, o incenso de composição, a oblação perpétua e o óleo da unção, bem como tudo o que pertence ao serviço do tabernáculo, e todos os utensílios que há no santuário.

17O Senhor falou a Moisés e a Aarão, dizendo:

18Não queirais exterminar os filhos da linhagem de Caath do meio dos Levitas.

19Procedei de modo que vivam, e não morram ao tocarem as coisas santíssimas. Aarão e seus filhos entrarão, e eles mesmos disporão os encargos de cada um, e separarão o que deve cada um levar.

20Os outros não olhem com curiosidade para as coisas que há no santuário antes de estarem embrulhadas, aliás morrerão.

21O Senhor falou a Moisés, dizendo:

22Tira também a conta dos filhos de Gerson, segundo as suas casas patriarcais, segundo as suas famílias,

23desde os trinta anos para cima até aos cinquenta. Conta todos os que entram e servem no tabernáculo da reunião.

24Este é o ofício da família dos Gersonitas:

25Levarão as cortinas do tabernáculo, o texto da aliança, a segunda coberta, a coberta das peles roxas que está por cima, o véu que está pendurado à entrada do tabernáculo da reunião,

26as cortinas do átrio, e o véu da entrada que está diante do tabernáculo. Todas as coisas que pertencem ao altar, os condões e os utensílios do ministério,

27levá-las-ão os filhos de Gerson, debaixo das ordens de Aarão e de seus filhos, e cada um saberá que serviço deve prestar.

28Este é o serviço da família dos Gersonitas no tabernáculo da reunião, e estarão sujeitos a Itamar, filho do sacerdote Aarão.

29Contarás também os filhos de Merari, segundo as suas famílias e as casas de seus pais,

30desde os trinta anos para cima até aos cinquenta, todos que têm algum ofício, que prestam serviço no tabernáculo da reunião.

31Estes são os seus cargos: Levarão as tábuas do tabernáculo, os seus varais, as colunas, as suas bases,

32e também as colunas que estão ao redor do átrio com as suas bases, estacas e cordas. Receberão por conta todos os vasos e alfaias, e assim as levarão.

33Este é o serviço da família dos Meraritas e o seu ministério no tabernáculo da reunião; estarão às ordens de Itamar, filho do sacerdote Aarão,

34Moisés, Aarão e os príncipes da sinagoga fizeram o recenseamento dos filhos de Caath segundo as famílias e as casas de seus pais,

35desde os trinta anos para cima até aos cinqüenta, (isto é) de todos os que entram no serviço do tabernáculo da reunião:

36Contaram dois mil e setecentos e cinqüenta.

37Este é o número dos da estirpe de Caath, que entraram no tabernáculo da reunião, contados por Moisés e Aarão, segundo a ordem dada pelo Senhor por meio de Moisés.

38Foram também contados os filhos de Gerson segundo as famílias e casas de seus pais,

39desde os trinta anos para cima até aos cinqüenta, todos os que entram para ministrar no tabernáculo da reunião;

40acharam-se dois mil e seiscentos e trinta.

41Estes são os da estirpe dos Gersonitas, que Moisés e Aarão contaram segundo a ordem do Senhor.

42Foram também contados os filhos de Merari segundo as famílias e casas de seus pais,

43desde os trinta anos para cima até aos cinquenta, todos os que entram a exercer as suas funções no tabernáculo da reunião,

44e foram achados três mil e duzentos.

45Este é o número dos filhos de Merari, que Moisés e Aarão contaram, segundo a ordem dada pelo Senhor por meio de Moisés.

46Todos os que foram contados dentre os Levitas, e de quem Moisés e Aarão e os príncipes de Israel fizeram o recenseamento segundo as famílias e casas de seus pais,

47desde os trinta anos para cima até aos cinquenta, que entravam para o serviço do tabernáculo ou para o seu transporte,

48foram ao todo oito mil quinhentos e oitenta.

49Moisés, conforme a ordem do Senhor, contou-os cada um segundo o seu ofício e os seus cargos, como o Senhor lhe tinha ordenado.

2Tolle summam filiorum Caath de medio Levitarum per domos et familias suas,

3a trigesimo anno et supra, usque ad quinquagesimum annum, omnium qui ingrediuntur ut stent et ministrent in tabernaculo fœderis.

4Hic est cultus filiorum Caath: tabernaculum fœderis, et Sanctum sanctorum

5ingredientur Aaron et filii ejus, quando movenda sunt castra, et deponent velum quod pendet ante fores, involventque eo arcam testimonii,

6et operient rursum velamine janthinarum pellium, extendentque desuper pallium totum hyacinthinum, et inducent vectes.

7Mensam quoque propositionis involvent hyacinthino pallio, et ponent cum ea thuribula et mortariola, cyathos et crateras ad liba fundenda: panes semper in ea erunt:

8extendentque desuper pallium coccineum, quod rursum operient velamento janthinarum pellium, et inducent vectes.

9Sument et pallium hyacinthinum, quo operient candelabrum cum lucernis et forcipibus suis et emunctoriis et cunctis vasis olei, quæ ad concinnandas lucernas necessaria sunt:

10et super omnia ponent operimentum janthinarum pellium, et inducent vectes.

11Necnon et altare aureum involvent hyacinthino vestimento, et extendent desuper operimentum janthinarum pellium, inducentque vectes.

12Omnia vasa, quibus ministratur in sanctuario, involvent hyacinthino pallio, et extendent desuper operimentum janthinarum pellium, inducentque vectes.

13Sed et altare mundabunt cinere, et involvent illud purpureo vestimento,

14ponentque cum eo omnia vasa, quibus in ministerio ejus utuntur, id est, ignium receptacula, fuscinulas ac tridentes, uncinos et batilla. Cuncta vasa altaris operient simul velamine janthinarum pellium, et inducent vectes.

15Cumque involverint Aaron et filii ejus sanctuarium et omnia vasa ejus in commotione castrorum, tunc intrabunt filii Caath ut portent involuta: et non tangent vasa sanctuarii, ne moriantur. Ista sunt onera filiorum Caath in tabernaculo fœderis:

16super quos erit Eleazar filius Aaron sacerdotis, ad cujus curam pertinet oleum ad concinnandas lucernas, et compositionis incensum, et sacrificium, quod semper offertur, et oleum unctionis, et quidquid ad cultum tabernaculi pertinet, omniumque vasorum, quæ in sanctuario sunt.

17Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron, dicens:

18Nolite perdere populum Caath de medio Levitarum:

19sed hoc facite eis, ut vivant, et non moriantur, si tetigerint Sancta sanctorum. Aaron et filii ejus intrabunt, ipsique disponent opera singulorum, et divident quid portare quis debeat.

20Alii nulla curiositate videant quæ sunt in sanctuario priusquam involvantur, alioquin morientur.

21Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:

22Tolle summam etiam filiorum Gerson per domos ac familias et cognationes suas,

23a triginta annis et supra, usque ad annos quinquaginta. Numera omnes qui ingrediuntur et ministrant in tabernaculo fœderis.

24Hoc est officium familiæ Gersonitarum,

25ut portent cortinas tabernaculi et tectum fœderis, operimentum aliud, et super omnia velamen janthinum tentoriumque quod pendet in introitu tabernaculi fœderis,

26cortinas atrii, et velum in introitu quod est ante tabernaculum. Omnia quæ ad altare pertinent, funiculos, et vasa ministerii,

27jubente Aaron et filiis ejus, portabunt filii Gerson: et scient singuli cui debeant oneri mancipari.

28Hic est cultus familiæ Gersonitarum in tabernaculo fœderis, eruntque sub manu Ithamar filii Aaron sacerdotis.

29Filios quoque Merari per familias et domos patrum suorum recensebis,

30a triginta annis et supra, usque ad annos quinquaginta, omnes qui ingrediuntur ad officium ministerii sui et cultum fœderis testimonii.

31Hæc sunt onera eorum: portabunt tabulas tabernaculi et vectes ejus, columnas ac bases earum,

32columnas quoque atrii per circuitum cum basibus et paxillis et funibus suis. Omnia vasa et supellectilem ad numerum accipient, sicque portabunt.

33Hoc est officium familiæ Meraritarum et ministerium in tabernaculo fœderis: eruntque sub manu Ithamar filii Aaron sacerdotis.

34Recensuerunt igitur Moyses et Aaron et principes synagogæ filios Caath per cognationes et domos patrum suorum,

35a triginta annis et supra, usque ad annum quinquagesimum, omnes qui ingrediuntur ad ministerium tabernaculi fœderis:

36et inventi sunt duo millia septingenti quinquaginta.

37Hic est numerus populi Caath qui intrant tabernaculum fœderis: hos numeravit Moyses et Aaron juxta sermonem Domini per manum Moysi.

38Numerati sunt et filii Gerson per cognationes et domos patrum suorum,

39a triginta annos et supra, usque ad quinquagesimum annum, omnes qui ingrediuntur ut ministrent in tabernaculo fœderis:

40et inventi sunt duo millia sexcenti triginta.

41Hic est populus Gersonitarum, quos numeraverunt Moyses et Aaron juxta verbum Domini.

42Numerati sunt et filii Merari per cognationes et domos patrum suorum,

43a triginta annis et supra, usque ad annum quinquagesimum, omnes qui ingrediuntur ad explendos ritus tabernaculi fœderis:

44et inventi sunt tria millia ducenti.

45Hic est numerus filiorum Merari, quos recensuerunt Moyses et Aaron juxta imperium Domini per manum Moysi.

46Omnes qui recensiti sunt de Levitis, et quos recenseri fecit ad nomen Moyses et Aaron, et principes Israël per cognationes et domos patrum suorum,

47a triginta annis et supra, usque ad annum quinquagesimum, ingredientes ad ministerium tabernaculi, et onera portanda,

48fuerunt simul octo millia quingenti octoginta.

49Juxta verbum Domini recensuit eos Moyses, unumquemque juxta officium et onera sua, sicut præceperat ei Dominus.

1And the Lord spoke to Moses, and Aaron, saying:

2Take the sum of the sons of Caath from the midst of the Levites, by their houses and families.

3From thirty years old and upward, to fifty years old, of all that go in to stand and to minister in the tabernacle of the covenant.

4This is the service of the sons of Caath:

5When the camp is to set forward, Aaron and his sons shall go into the tabernacle of the covenant, and the holy of holies, and shall take down the veil that hangeth before the door, and shall wrap up the ark of the testimony in it,

6And shall cover it again with a cover of violet skins, and shall spread over it a cloth all of violet, and shall put in the bars.

7They shall wrap up also the table of proposition in a cloth of violet, and shall put with it the censers and little mortars, the cups and bowls to pour out the libations: the leaves shall be always on it:

8And they shall spread over it a cloth of scarlet, which again they shall cover with a covering of violet skins, and shall put in the bars.

9They shall take also a cloth of violet wherewith they shall cover the candlestick with the lamps and tongs thereof and the snuffers and all the oil vessels, which are necessary for the dressing of the lamps:

10And over all they shall put a cover of violet skins and put in the bars.

11And they shall wrap up the golden altar also in a cloth of violet, and shall spread over it a cover of violet skins, and put in the bars.

12All the vessels wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, they shall wrap up in a cloth of violet, and shall spread over it a cover of violet skins, and put in the bars.

13They shall cleanse the altar also from the ashes, and shall wrap it up in a purple cloth,

14And shall put it with all the vessels that they use in the ministry thereof, that is to say, firepans, fleshhooks and forks, pothooks and shovels. They shall cover all the vessels of the altar together with a covering of violet skins, and shall put in the bars.

15And when Aaron and his sons have wrapped up the sanctuary and the vessels thereof at the removing of the camp, then shall the sons of Caath enter in to carry the things wrapped up: and they shall not touch the vessels of the sanctuary, lest they die. These are the burdens of the sons of Caath: in the tabernacle of the covenant:

16And over them shall be Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, to whose charge pertaineth the oil to dress the lamps, and the sweet incense, and the sacrifice, that is always offered, and the oil of unction, and whatsoever pertaineth to the service of the tabernacle, and of all the vessels that are in the sanctuary.

17And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:

18Destroy not the people of Caath from the midst of the Levites:

19But do this to them, that they may live, and not die, by touching the holies of holies. Aaron and his sons shall go in, and they shall appoint every man his work, and shall divide the burdens that every man is to carry.

20Let not others by any curiosity see the things that are in the sanctuary before they be wrapped up, otherwise they shall die.

21And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

22Take the sum of the soils of Gerson also by their houses and families and kindreds.

23From thirty Sears old and upward, unto fifty years old. Number them all that go in and minister in the tabernacle of the covenant.

24This is the office of the family of the Gersonites:

25To carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the roof of the covenant, the other covering, and the violet covering over all, and the hanging that hangeth in the entry of the tabernacle of the covenant,

26The curtains of the court, and the veil in the entry that is before the tabernacle. All things that pertain to the altar, the cords and the vessels of the ministry,

27The sons of Gerson shall carry, by the commandment of Aaron and his sons: and each man shall know to what burden he must be assigned.

28This is the service of the family of the Gersonites in the tabernacle of the covenant, and they shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

29Thou shalt reckon up the sons of Merari also by the families and houses of their fathers,

30From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to the office of their ministry, and to the service of the covenant of the testimony.

31These are their burdens: They shall carry the boards of the tabernacle and the bars thereof, the pillars and their sockets,

32The pillars also of the court round about, with their sockets and pins and cords. They shall receive by account all the vessels and furniture, and so shall carry them.

33This is the office of the family of the Merarites, and their ministry in the tabernacle of the covenant: and they shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

34So Moses and Aaron and the princes of the synagogue reckoned up the sons of Caath, by their kindreds and the houses of their fathers,

35From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to the ministry of the tabernacle of the covenant:

36And they were found two thousand seven hundred and fifty.

37This is the number of the people of Caath that go in to the tabernacle of the covenant: these did Moses and Aaron number according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

38The sons of Gerson also were numbered by the kindreds and houses of their fathers,

39From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to minister in the tabernacle of the covenant:

40And they were found two thousand six hundred and thirty.

41This is the people of the Gersonites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the Lord.

42The sons of Merari also were numbered by the kindreds and houses of their fathers,

43From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to fulfill the rites of the tabernacle of the covenant:

44And they were found three thousand two hundred.

45This is the number of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron reckoned up according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

46All that were reckoned up of the Levites, and whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel took by name, by the kindreds and houses of their fathers,

47From thirty years old and upward, until fifty years old, that go into the ministry of the tabernacle, and to carry the burdens,

48Were in all eight thousand five hundred and eighty.

49Moses reckoned them up according to the word of the Lord, every one according to their office and burdens, as the Lord had commanded him.
