Levitico 18

1E il Signore parlò a Mosè, e disse:

2Parla a' figliuoli d'Israele, e di' loro: Io il Signore Dio vostro:

3Voi non seguirete le usanze del paese d'Egitto, in cui avete abitato: e non prenderete i costumi della terra di Chanaan, nella quale io v'introdurrò, e non camminerete secondo le loro leggi.

4Praticherete i miei comandamenti, e osserverete i miei precetti, e secondo questi vivrete. Io il Signore Dio vostro.

5Osserverete le mie leggi, e i miei comandamenti, nei quali avrà vita chiunque gli osserverà. Io il Signore.

6Nessun uomo si congiungerà con una donna propinqua di sangue, né avrà che fare con essa. Io il Signore.

7Non ti unirai in matrimonio tu (o figlia) col padre tuo, né tu (o figliuolo) colla madre tua: ella è tua madre: tu non le farai disonore.

8Non avrai che fare colla moglie del padre tuo: perocché ella è stata conosciuta dal padre tuo.

9Non avrai commercio colla sorella di padre, o di madre, sia ella nata in casa tua, ovver fuori.

10Non ti congiungerai colla figlia di tuo figliuolo, o colla nipote dal canto di tua figlia: perocché ella è tuo sangue.

11Non ti congiungerai colla figlia della moglie del padre tuo, cui questa partorì al padre tuo, ond'ella è tua sorella.

12Non ti congiungerai colla sorella del padre tuo: perocché ella è del sangue stesso di tuo padre.

13Non ti congiungerai colla sorella della madre tua; perocché ella è del sangue di tua madre.

14Non farai sfregio al tuo zio paterno, sposando la moglie di lui, la quale è tua prossima parente.

15Non avrai che fare colla tua nuora; perché ella è moglie di tuo figliuolo, e tu non le farai oltraggio.

16Non ti congiungerai colla moglie di tuo fratello; perché ella è una cosa stessa con tuo fratello.

17Non ti unirai insieme alla madre, e alla figlia. Non prenderai la figlia di suo figliuolo, o di sua figlia per farle oltraggio: perché queste sono del sangue di tua moglie; e tali matrimoni sono incestuosi.

18Non prenderai per concubina la sorella di tua moglie, né avrai commercio con essa, vivente tua moglie.

19Ti asterrai dalla donna nel tempo di sua incomodità; e non avrai commercio con essa.

20Non peccherai colla donna del tuo prossimo; e non ti contaminerai con simile unione.

21Non darai de' tuoi figliuoli ad esser consacrati all'idolo Moloch; e non profanerai il nome del tuo Dio. Io il Signore.

22Ti guarderai dal peccato di soddomia, che è cosa abbominevole.

23L'uomo e la donna si guarderanno dal peccare con bestie, perocché è cosa scellerata.

24Abbiate in avversione tutte le impurità, onde sono imbrattate tutte le genti, le quali io discaccerò dal vostro cospetto;

25Le quali genti hanno contaminata quella terra; ond'io visiterò le scelleraggini di lei, ed ella vomiterà i suoi abitatori.

26Osservate le mie leggi, e i miei comandamenti, e guardatevi da tutte queste infamità tanto voi, come i forestieri, che abitano tra di voi.

27Imperocché tutte queste esecrande cose le hanno fatte quelli che prima di voi hanno abitato quella terra, e l'hanno contaminata.

28Badate adunque, che ella non vomiti nella stessa guisa anche voi, come ha vomitato il popolo, che vi stava prima di voi, se farete le stesse cose.

29Chiunque commetterà alcuna di quelle orribili cose, sarà sterminato dalla società del suo popolo.

30Osservate i miei comandamenti. Non fate quello che hanno fatto coloro, che vi sono stati avanti a voi, e non vi contaminate con tali cose. Io il Signore Dio vostro.

1Locutus est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:

2Loquere filiis Israël, et dices ad eos: Ego Dominus Deus vester:

3juxta consuetudinem terræ Ægypti, in qua habitastis, non facietis: et juxta morem regionis Chanaan, ad quam ego introducturus sum vos, non agetis, nec in legitimis eorum ambulabitis.

4Facietis judicia mea, et præcepta mea servabitis, et ambulabitis in eis. Ego Dominus Deus vester.

5Custodite leges meas atque judicia, quæ faciens homo, vivet in eis. Ego Dominus.

6Omnis homo ad proximam sanguinis sui non accedet, ut revelet turpitudinem ejus. Ego Dominus.

7Turpitudinem patris tui et turpitudinem matris tuæ non discooperies: mater tua est: non revelabis turpitudinem ejus.

8Turpitudinem uxoris patris tui non discooperies: turpitudo enim patris tui est.

9Turpitudinem sororis tuæ ex patre sive ex matre, quæ domi vel foris genita est, non revelabis.

10Turpitudinem filiæ filii tui vel neptis ex filia non revelabis: quia turpitudo tua est.

11Turpitudinem filiæ uxoris patris tui, quam peperit patri tuo, et est soror tua, non revelabis.

12Turpitudinem sororis patris tui non discooperies: quia caro est patris tui.

13Turpitudinem sororis matris tuæ non revelabis, eo quod caro sit matris tuæ.

14Turpitudinem patrui tui non revelabis, nec accedes ad uxorem ejus, quæ tibi affinitate conjungitur.

15Turpitudinem nurus tuæ non revelabis, quia uxor filii tui est: nec discooperies ignominiam ejus.

16Turpitudinem uxoris fratris tui non revelabis: quia turpitudo fratris tui est.

17Turpitudinem uxoris tuæ et filiæ ejus non revelabis. Filiam filii ejus, et filiam filiæ illius non sumes, ut reveles ignominiam ejus: quia caro illius sunt, et talis coitus incestus est.

18Sororem uxoris tuæ in pellicatum illius non accipies, nec revelabis turpitudinem ejus adhuc illa vivente.

19Ad mulierem quæ patitur menstrua non accedes, nec revelabis fœditatem ejus.

20Cum uxore proximi tui non coibis, nec seminis commistione maculaberis.

21De semine tuo non dabis ut consecretur idolo Moloch, nec pollues nomen Dei tui. Ego Dominus.

22Cum masculo non commiscearis coitu femineo, quia abominatio est.

23Cum omni pecore non coibis, nec maculaberis cum eo. Mulier non succumbet jumento, nec miscebitur ei, quia scelus est.

24Nec polluamini in omnibus his quibus contaminatæ sunt universæ gentes, quas ego ejiciam ante conspectum vestrum,

25et quibus polluta est terra: cujus ego scelera visitabo, ut evomat habitatores suos.

26Custodite legitima mea atque judicia, et non faciatis ex omnibus abominationibus istis, tam indigena quam colonus qui peregrinantur apud vos.

27Omnes enim execrationes istas fecerunt accolæ terræ qui fuerunt ante vos, et polluerunt eam.

28Cavete ergo ne et vos similiter evomat, cum paria feceritis, sicut evomuit gentem, quæ fuit ante vos.

29Omnis anima, quæ fecerit de abominationibus his quippiam, peribit de medio populi sui.

30Custodite mandata mea. Nolite facere quæ fecerunt hi qui fuerunt ante vos, et ne polluamini in eis. Ego Dominus Deus vester.

1And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

2Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: I am the Lord your God.

3You shall not do according to the custom of the land of Egypt, in which you dwelt: neither shall you act according to the manner of the country of Chanaan, into which I will bring you, nor shall you walk in their ordinances.

4You shall do my judgments, and shall observe my precepts, and shall walk in them. I am the Lord your God.

5Keep my laws and my judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them. I am the Lord.

6No man shall approach to her that is near of kin to him, to uncover her nakedness. I am the Lord.

7Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother: she is thy mother, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

8Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s wife: for it is the nakedness of thy father.

9Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy sister by father or by mother, whether born at home or abroad.

10Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or thy daughter’s daughter: because it is thy own nakedness.

11Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, whom she bore to thy father, and who is thy sister.

12Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister: because she is the flesh of thy father.

13Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister: because she is thy mother’s flesh.

14Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother: neither shalt thou approach to his wife, who is joined to thee by affinity.

15Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: because she is thy son’s wife, neither shalt thou discover her shame.

16Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: because it is the nakedness of thy brother.

17Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy wife and her daughter. Thou shalt not take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter, to discover her shame: because they are her flesh, and such copulation is incest.

18Thou shalt not take thy wife’s sister for a harlot, to rival her, neither shalt thou discover her nakedness, while she is yet living.

19Thou shalt not approach to a woman having her flowers, neither shalt thou uncover her nakedness.

20Thou shalt not lie with thy neighbour’s wife, nor be defiled with mingling of seed.

21Thou shalt not give any of thy seed to be consecrated to the idol Moloch, nor defile the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

22Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, because it is an abomination.

23Thou shalt not copulate with any beast, neither shalt thou be defiled with it. A woman shall not lie down to a beast, nor copulate with it: because it is a heinous crime.

24Defile not yourselves with any of these things with which all the nations have been defiled, which I will cast out before you,

25And with which the land is defiled: the abominations of which I will visit, that it may vomit out its inhabitants.

26Keep ye my ordinances and my judgments, and do not any of these abominations: neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you.

27For all these detestable things the inhabitants of the land have done, that; were before you, and have defiled it.

28Beware then, lest in like manner, it vomit you also out, if you do the like things, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

29Every soul that shall commit any of these abominations, shall perish from the midst of his people.

30Keep my commandments. Do not the things which they have done, that have been before you, and be not defiled therein. I am the Lord your God.
