1I am the true vine; and my Father is the husbandman.

2Every branch in me, that beareth not fruit, he will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3Now you are clean by reason of the word, which I have spoken to you.

4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me.

5I am the vine: you the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.

6If any one abide not in me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up, and case him into the fire, and be burneth.

7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you will, and it shall be done unto you.

8In this is my Father glorified; that you bring forth very much fruit, and become my disciples.

9As the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you.

10If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father’s commandments, and do abide in his love.

11These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.

12This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.

13Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.

15I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.

16You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17These things I command you, that you love one another.

18If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.

19If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

21But all these things they will do to you for my name’s sake: because they know not him who sent me.

22If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

23He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.

24If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.

26But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.

27And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.

3Jam vos mundi estis propter sermonem quem locutus sum vobis.

4Manete in me, et ego in vobis. Sicut palmes non potest fere fructum a semetipso, nisi manserit in vite, sic nec vos, nisi in me manseritis.

5Ego sum vitis, vos palmites: qui manet in me, et ego in eo, hic fert fructum multum, quia sine me nihil potestis facere.

9Sicut dilexit me Pater, et ego dilexi vos. Manete in dilectione mea.

18Si mundus vos odit, scitote quia me priorem vobis odio habuit.

21Sed hæc omnia facient vobis propter nomen meum: quia nesciunt eum qui misit me.

23Qui me odit, et Patrem meum odit.

26Cum autem venerit Paraclitus, quem ego mittam vobis a Patre, Spiritum veritatis, qui a Patre procedit, ille testimonium perhibebit de me;

27et vos testimonium perhibebitis, quia ab initio mecum estis.

1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he will take away. And each one that does bear fruit, he will cleanse, so that it may bring forth more fruit.

3You are clean now, because of the word that I have spoken to you.

4Abide in me, and I in you. Just as the branch is not able to bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so also are you unable, unless you abide in me.

5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit. For without me, you are able to do nothing.

8In this, my Father is glorified: that you should bring forth very much fruit and become my disciples.

9As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love.

10If you keep my precepts, you shall abide in my love, just as I also have kept my Father’s precepts and I abide in his love.

11These things I have spoken to you, so that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be fulfilled.

12This is my precept: that you love one another, just as I have loved you.

13No one has a greater love than this: that he lay down his life for his friends.

14You are my friends, if you do what I instruct you.

15I will no longer call you servants, for the servant does not know what his Lord is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything whatsoever that I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

16You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you. And I have appointed you, so that you may go forth and bear fruit, and so that your fruit may last. Then whatever you have asked of the Father in my name, he shall give to you.

17This I command you: that you love one another.

18If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before you.

19If you had been of the world, the world would love what is its own. Yet truly, you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world; because of this, the world hates you.

20Remember my saying that I told you: The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

21But all these things they will do to you because of my name, for they do not know him who sent me.

22If I had not come and had not spoken to them, they would not have sin. But now they have no excuse for their sin.

23Whoever hates me, hates my Father also.

24If I had not accomplished among them works that no other person has accomplished, they would not have sin. But now they have both seen me, and they have hated me and my Father.

25But this is so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law: ‘For they hated me without cause.’

26But when the Advocate has arrived, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will offer testimony about me.

27And you shall offer testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.”
