About this edition

Ps 114:1-9; 115:1-10 in this version

1I have loved, because the Lord will hear the voice of my prayer.

2Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: and in my days I will call upon him.

3The sorrows of death have encompassed me: and the perils of hell have found me. I met with trouble and sorrow:

4And I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, deliver my soul.

5The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.

6The Lord is the keeper of little ones: I was little and he delivered me.

7Turn, O my soul, into thy rest: for the Lord hath been bountiful to thee.

8For he hath delivered my soul from death: my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

9I will please the Lord in the land of the living.

10I have believed, therefore have I spoken; but I have been humbled exceedingly.

11I said in my excess: Every man is a liar.

12What shall I render to the Lord, for all the things he hath rendered unto me?

13I will take the chalice of salvation; and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

14I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people:

15Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

16O Lord, for I am thy servant: I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast broken my bonds:

17I will sacrifice to thee the sacrifice of praise, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

18I will pay my vows to the Lord in the sight of all his people:

19In the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.

About this edition

Ps 114:1-9; 115:1-10 in this version

1Alleluja. [Dilexi, quoniam exaudiet Dominus vocem orationis meæ.

2Quia inclinavit aurem suam mihi, et in diebus meis invocabo.

3Circumdederunt me dolores mortis; et pericula inferni invenerunt me. Tribulationem et dolorem inveni,

4et nomen Domini invocavi: o Domine, libera animam meam.

5Misericors Dominus et justus, et Deus noster miseretur.

6Custodiens parvulos Dominus; humiliatus sum, et liberavit me.

7Convertere, anima mea, in requiem tuam, quia Dominus benefecit tibi:

8quia eripuit animam meam de morte, oculos meos a lacrimis, pedes meos a lapsu.

9Placebo Domino in regione vivorum.]

10Alleluja. [Credidi, propter quod locutus sum; ego autem humiliatus sum nimis.

11Ego dixi in excessu meo: Omnis homo mendax.

12Quid retribuam Domino pro omnibus quæ retribuit mihi?

13Calicem salutaris accipiam, et nomen Domini invocabo.

14Vota mea Domino reddam coram omni populo ejus.

15Pretiosa in conspectu Domini mors sanctorum ejus.

16O Domine, quia ego servus tuus; ego servus tuus, et filius ancillæ tuæ. Dirupisti vincula mea:

17tibi sacrificabo hostiam laudis, et nomen Domini invocabo.

18Vota mea Domino reddam in conspectu omnis populi ejus;

19in atriis domus Domini, in medio tui, Jerusalem.]

Ps 114:1-9; 115:1-10 in this version

1Alleluia. I have loved: therefore, the Lord will heed the voice of my prayer.

2For he has inclined his ear to me. And in my days, I will call upon him.

3The sorrows of death have surrounded me, and the perils of Hell have found me. I have found tribulation and sorrow.

4And so, I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, free my soul.

5Merciful is the Lord, and just. And our God is compassionate.

6The Lord is the keeper of little ones. I was humbled, and he freed me.

7Turn again, my soul, to your rest. For the Lord has done good to you.

8For he has rescued my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from slipping.

9I will please the Lord in the land of the living.

10Alleluia. I had confidence, because of what I was saying, but then I was greatly humbled.

11I said in my excess, “Every man is a liar.”

12What shall I repay to the Lord, for all the things that he has repaid to me?

13I will take up the cup of salvation, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

14I will repay my vows to the Lord, in the sight of all his people.

15Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his holy ones.

16O Lord, because I am your servant, your servant and the son of your handmaid, you have broken my bonds.

17I will sacrifice to you the sacrifice of praise, and I will invoke the name of the Lord.

18I will repay my vows to the Lord in the sight of all his people,

19in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem.
