Privacy
Collatio asks for no sign-up, collects no name or email address, and keeps no user account. This page describes what the site keeps in your browser, what it measures about how the site is used, and the cookies Google’s advertising uses.
What this site stores
A cookie named “locale”, which remembers the language you chose so the home page stops asking, and a value named “theme” in your browser’s local storage, which remembers whether you prefer the light or dark palette. Neither of those leaves your browser. Google Analytics adds two cookies of its own, “_ga” and one beginning “_ga_”, which tell one browser apart from another for up to two years; they carry no name and no address, and the next section says what they are used to count. All four can be cleared at any time from your browser’s settings.
Measurement
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and to learn which passages and editions are actually read. Besides the pages you open, it records a few deliberate actions: adding or removing an edition, reordering the columns, and changing the theme or the site language. It also records the text of a reference the site could not understand, together with the reason it failed — an abbreviation nobody has taught it yet is the most useful thing this site can learn, and the reason on its own never names the book. Google gives your browser a random identifier and receives your IP address. No name, no email address and no account is involved, because the site keeps none. How Google uses this data
Advertising
This site shows Google ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use these cookies to serve personalised ads. Google’s advertising policies
How to opt out
You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, and stop the measurement above by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on or by blocking the cookies named earlier. Where the law requires it, a consent notice is shown on your first visit and lets you refuse third-party cookies. Opting out does not remove the ads; it makes them less relevant.
