Johannes 21
Douay-Rheims 1899
Über diese Ausgabe1After this, Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he shewed himself after this manner.
2There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, who is called Didymus, and Nathanael, who was of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.
3Simon Peter saith to them: I go a fishing. They say to him: We also come with thee. And they went forth, and entered into the ship: and that night they caught nothing.
4But when the morning was come, Jesus stood on the shore: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5Jesus therefore said to them: Children, have you any meat? They answered him: No.
6He saith to them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast therefore; and now they were not able to draw it, for the multitude of fishes.
7That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved, said to Peter: It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, girt his coat about him, (for he was naked,) and cast himself into the sea.
8But the other disciples came in the ship, (for they were not far from the land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.
9As soon then as they came to land, they saw hot coals lying, and a fish laid thereon, and bread.
10Jesus saith to them: Bring hither of the fishes which you have now caught.
11Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, one hundred and fifty-three. And although there were so many, the net was not broken.
12Jesus saith to them: Come, and dine. And none of them who were at meat, durst ask him: Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
13And Jesus cometh and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish in like manner.
14This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead.
15When therefore they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter: Simon son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.
16He saith to him again: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.
17He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he had said to him the third time: Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Feed my sheep.
18Amen, amen I say to thee, when thou wast younger, thou didst gird thyself, and didst walk where thou wouldst. But when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and lead thee whither thou wouldst not.
19And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.
20Peter turning about, saw that disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said: Lord, who is he that shall betray thee?
21Him therefore when Peter had seen, he saith to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do?
22Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? follow thou me.
23This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus did not say to him: He should not die; but, So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee?
24This is that disciple who giveth testimony of these things, and hath written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
25But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written.
Vulgata Clementina 1598
3Dicit eis Simon Petrus: Vado piscari.
5Dixit ergo eis Jesus: Pueri, numquid pulmentarium habetis?
12Dicit eis Jesus: Venite, prandete.
15Cum ergo prandissent, dicit Simoni Petro Jesus: Simon Joannis, diligis me plus his? Dicit ei: Etiam Domine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos.
16Dicit ei iterum: Simon Joannis, diligis me? Ait illi: Etiam Domine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos.
17Dicit ei tertio: Simon Joannis, amas me?
22Dicit ei Jesus: Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te? tu me sequere.

Über diese Ausgabe1After this, Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. And he manifested himself in this way.
2These were together: Simon Peter and Thomas, who is called the Twin, and Nathanael, who was from Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.
3Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “And we are going with you.” And they went and climbed into the ship. And in that night, they caught nothing.
4But when morning arrived, Jesus stood on the shore. Yet the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
5Then Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any food?” They answered him, “No.”
6He said to them, “Cast the net to the right side of the ship, and you will find some.” Therefore, they cast it out, and then they were not able to draw it in, because of the multitude of fish.
7Therefore, the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” Simon Peter, when he had heard that it was the Lord, wrapped his tunic around himself, (for he was naked) and he cast himself into the sea.
8Then the other disciples arrived in a boat, (for they were not far from the land, only about two hundred cubits) dragging the net with the fish.
9Then, when they climbed down to the land they saw burning coals prepared, and fish already placed above them, and bread.
10Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just now caught.”
11Simon Peter climbed up and drew in the net to land: full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn.
12Jesus said to them, “Approach and dine.” And not one of them sitting down to eat dared to ask him, “Who are you?” For they knew that it was the Lord.
13And Jesus approached, and he took bread, and he gave it to them, and similarly with the fish.
14This was now the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples, after he had resurrected from the dead.
15Then, when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
16He said to him again: “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
17He said to him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was very grieved that he had asked him a third time, “Do you love me?” And so he said to him: “Lord, you know all things. You know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my sheep.
18Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked wherever you wanted. But when you are older, you will extend your hands, and another shall gird you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
19Now he said this to signify by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”
20Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, the one who also had leaned on his chest at supper and said, “Lord, who is it who shall betray you?”
21Therefore, when Peter had seen him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, but what about this one?”
22Jesus said to him: “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow me.”
23Therefore, the saying went out among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you?”
24This is the same disciple who offers testimony about these things, and who has written these things. And we know that his testimony is true.
25Now there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if each of these were written down, the world itself, I suppose, would not be able to contain the books that would be written.
